The govt.shud work towards bolstering the IAFs numbers by accelerating the Tejas Mk1a production to a minimum of 1.5 squadrons per year or 30 aircraft and get HAL to complete deliveries in 5-6 yrs. Parallely around 2 to 3 squadrons of Tejas Mk2 shud start getting produced in IOC mode, from say 2027, with all the currently available technologies of the Mk1A and AMCA. This will ensure around 200 aircraft in 5 yrs or 10 additional squadrons. 272 Su 30mkis including the planned new ones will add up to 13 squadrons. Existing Tejas, Rafales, Mirages 2K and Mig 29s give the the IAF around 11 squadrons. So IAF shud augment it's total cutting edge fighter strength to 34 squadrons by 2030. As far as the remaining 8 squadrons r concerned, the 5 Jaguar squadrons, 100 odd aircraft, shud if made more lethal may offer A2G support for another 5 yrs....taking up overall squadron strength to 39. In such a scenario 3 more squadrons can be easily filled in with 2nd hand Mirage 2Ks from Greece and France. By 2030 Tejas MK2 will easily be in FOC mode and replace the Jags, Mirages and Migs slowly. IAF shud also consider the ORCA so there is no need for MRFA. But if there has to be an MRFA venture perhaps a limited 3 squadron deal of either latest Rafales(for which there is infrastructure)or the F35s which offer cutting edge avionics and BVR tech ? However what IAF needs is investment in 5th gen aorcraft detection capabilities. Also the govt shud consider increasing the squadron strength to 50😮

Tejas production is very slow by HAL. Why not speed up Tejas production by working 24 hrs a day in 3 shifts. Who stops in doing so. Recruit manpower and raise new plant. Who is stopping India by doing so. Why Tejas mark -2 with double engine and stealth body not being made till now.

One of the reasons for high price of the Rafale M is that the French believed that India with depleting number of squadrons and with domestic pressure, India will be compelled to procure their aircraft at high price. India should go on war footing for its indigenous aircraft like Tejas MK2, TEDBF and AMCA. Full thrust should be put for development of suitable Kaveri engine with desired thrust.
